Hollylodge bred mare Areeiro by Tuscanos – Miss Marsha (Swamp King) followed up her good hard win on 23rd June at Ballarat by running a near on identical race today to win easily at Sandown over 1400m. This is her first city win and she was ridden by S. Baster who took the ride when D. Gauci was injured this week.  Her normal jockey Andrew Mallyon took another ride in the race on Dashalot who finished 2nd to Areeiro. Congratulations to Alan and Val Browell who have had the mare since she started racing and have done an excellent job with her and she is not finished as yet. Steven Baster remarked on how tough she was and how fit she looked in the mounting yard prior to the race. Well done to all the connections of the mare. You can see Areeiro as a yearling who was passed in at the Inglis Autumn yearling sales in 2006 and then returned to Hollylodge where Alan Browell spotted her.

UPDATE: Areeiro is due to foal down very shortly to Zuapone will keep you informed. Sept 2012.

UPDATE:  Areeiro gave birth to a lovely bay Zupaone colt on 15th September. Both are doing well.
